Photography
Photography is the art of capturing a moment at the right position with the correct angle and lighting. Photography has evolved dramatically in the past few years owing to the drastic advancement in the field of technology. It has also become one of the major tools for conveying emotion and art in today’s world.
Five common types of photography are done at international levels. They are as follows:
- Portrait photography:
Portrait photography is said to be one of the most common types of photo style. It is also known as portrait photography or even portraiture. The major focus of portrait photography is to capture the mood and the personality of the individual who is being photographed. Thus, the photo will generally capture the face, eyes, and such features in the image. Lighting and background effect is also used to convey the emotion of the image and also highlight certain prominent features in the photo. Some deeper division of portraits is a family portrait, engagement portrait, senior portrait, and professional headshot.
- Still life photography:
In still life photography, the products clicked are mainly inanimate objects such as nature or other human-created objects. The purpose of still life photography can either be artistic or even for commercial purposes like the click of certain commercial products or objects. It is also used for stock photography and other advertising material like magazines and catalogs along with billboards. It is important that the lighting and other background arrangements are focused when clicking still life photography as it will provide better clarity to the image clicked.
- Editorial photography:
An editorial photograph is used to illustrate a newspaper article or a magazine script. There is no strict item of focus that is used for editorial photographs and it is often open to different topics that are covered in that particular magazine.
- Photojournalism:
Photojournalism is the method of narrating a story with pictures of an event or the setting through photos. The essence and emotion of a moment must be rightly captured in photojournalism as it will then enable conveying the story to the right audience. If candid moments of live actions are captured, then it will act as a better tool for photojournalism as it will then enable the audience to understand the seriousness of the situation with live pieces of evidence. - Sports photography:
Sports photography is done by capturing athletes, coaches and even fans gathered in the sports venue during the right moment of excitement. Sports photography can be used for depicting varied emotions like passion, an emotional high, and intensity among many others. The sports photograph must be shot at the right moment if not the capture might not be able to convey the desired emotion. It is recommended that a camera with high ISO is used for the purpose as its shutter speed will be more and can correctly capture a moment without losing any vital action. The cameras used for sports photography are often built with heavy lenses to click at the right moment and offer a convenient zooming option.
