Job Description for Video Editor
We are looking to hire a talented and experienced Video Editor to join our global creative team remotely. As a lead video editor, you will be responsible for assembling recorded video footage, applying artistic editing techniques and creating finished, broadcast-worthy projects that accurately reflect the vision of the production director and the client.
This is a key role in the post-production process and your skills can determine the quality and delivery of the finished result. You'll usually work closely with the director to achieve the desired end result.
To ensure success as a video editor, you should have expert knowledge of modern video editing softwares and techniques, be able to visualize directorial concepts and work according to a strict time schedule.
You should be able to translate a director's idea into a beautifully crafted video piece, worthy of broadcasting.
Job Summary

• Trimming footage and putting together the rough project.

• Consulting with the director and production team throughout the project.
• Creating the final cut for broadcasting.
Job Requirements
Hands-on experience with editing software, including Adobe Creative Suite, After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Premier will be preferred.
Knowledge of additional creative technology softwares ( Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Cinema 4D, Final Cut Pro X, Avid Media Composer, Lightworks ) will be an added advantage.
Creative and artistic skills.

Familiarity with motion graphics, composition and special effects.
Portfolio of completed productions.
Ability to translate ideas into content.

Job Details
• Receiving a brief, and maybe an outline of footage and/or a shot list, script, or screenplay
• assembling all raw footage, with camera shots in preparation for inputting into the Software
• Inputting uncut rushes and sound, and synchronising and storing them into files on the computer
• Digitally cutting files to put together the sequence of the video and deciding what's usable
• creating a 'rough cut' (or assembly edit) of the video and determining the exact cutting for the next and final stages
• Reordering and fine-tuning the content to ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of the video.
• Overseeing the quality and progress of audio and video engineering and editing
• experimenting with styles and techniques including the design of graphic elements
• writing voiceover/commentary
• Suggesting or selecting music
• Depending on your role you may also finalise technical aspects such as correcting faulty footage, grading and colouring and adding special effects.
• Perform video and audio editing based on story sequence and continuity.
• Work closely with clients and directors during production.
• Create the voiceover subtitles and other commentary for the video.
• Cut video sequences effectively to ensure the scenes are seamless and flow logically.
• Review the script to better understand the video production requirements.
• Perform all editing work including inserting music, sound effects, storyboarding, etc.
• Prepare a logical storyboard by combination of the most effective scenes.
• Review all edited tapes to identify any issues and recommend changes as necessary.
• Develop superior skills and expertise in handling computer editing equipment, video switching devices, etc.
• Discuss with directors and producers about video layouts and editing styles.
• Collaborate closely with others in audio and visual teams to create a continuous and complete story.
• Organize and assemble video segments to deliver a continuous and sequential story of specified length.
• Splice raw footage together from various sources and shoots, and combine it with other scenes to create a cohesive story
• Evaluate edited footage to make sure it matches the story from the script and meets the narrative agenda of the producer and director of the video
• Edit footage into timelines and cut time out of certain shots to create a more impactful story for the audience
• Combine visual footage with audio sound effects, dialogue, ambient sound and a musical soundtrack to create more drama in the story
• Use computer editing software programs, video switching devices, digital video effects programs and other tools to piece together video components
• Ensure all editing cuts, splices, changes and additions appear seamless and natural and help the story flow more effectively in the finished product
• Create sound effects by recording specific audio clips or choose audio effects from a database of sounds to include in the final video
• Discuss project timeline, narrative structure, story goals and more with the director and any producers as the project is edited
• Determine the specific audio and visual effects and music necessary to complete the videos.
• Trim video segments to specified lengths and reassemble segments in sequences that present stories with maximum effect.
